Bernard and Karen lovingly built their house 20 years ago. With their children now grown and still at home it was time to update the top level of their home to give it a completely new look and feel and open up the outlook over the Port Hacking River.
A kitchen remodel is never as simple as installing new cabinetry. In changing the orientation of the kitchen LifeSpace Building built a new bulkhead to conceal the air conditioning ducts. The bulkhead was built to mirror an angled pre-existing wall to define the space in open plan living. It also works in with the architectural angles of the upper level.
If a drop zone could be elegant then the blackbutt paneled cupboard that was built would be it. We used blackbutt slates to match the flooring and concealed the door hinges making this grown-up mud room a pleasing focal point as you come down the stairs from the front door.
Completing the renovation was the installation of a beautiful fireplace. The perfect spot for this family of avid readers.
From the client
“Matt is just so good at what he does. We had very clear ideas of what we wanted the finished product to look like but relied heavily on Matt’s expertise, problem solving and craftsmanship to get us there. This renovation has breathed new life into the home we built 20 years ago and reflects who we are as a family now. We absolutely love the spaces and the outlook that LifeSpace Building has created for us.”
